The Master of Arts in Education major in English Language Educational activity with thesis, introduced in 2014, is designed for teachers, trainers, and other professionals from diverse field of specialization who intend to become experts in English language language teaching in the basic, secondary, and third education. Specifically, the plan focuses on imbuing pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, and other professionals with theoretical groundings, practical noesis, and research skills through the program'due south varied delivery modes.

Through this program, the students will master theories in teaching and learning, construction system of the English language, approaches, principles, and methodologies in English language language educational activity, and curricula and instructional materials for language education and learning, every bit well equally crafting language programs with emphasis on remedial education and testing.   7. Globally-oriented teachers capable of establishing partnerships and linkages with fellow educational leaders both local and international; and
  8. Service-oriented and environment-conscious educational practitioners who are committed to found optimum development of the community through community service guided past the ethical practice of the instruction profession.

Upon successful completion of the 36-unit graduate degree programme with thesis designed for teachers of English linguistic communication to update them on the latest developments in linguistic communication didactics, students are expected to:

Upon completion of the plan, graduates can be employed as preparation and curriculum specialist, content and curriculum specialists, instructional design writer, curriculum designer and programmer, consultant, and didactics supervisor.  Likewise, the pupil can continue to a doctorate program in linguistic communication and literature teaching.



Programme curriculum

The masterate program is composed of 12 courses or 36 units on theories and principles of education, theories in linguistics, didactics strategies in English language and literature, and principles of research which are applied in designing, implementing, and evaluating English language language curricula and lessons for bones, secondary, and third levels.

In the program, students will delve deeper into the electric current issues and trends in English language teaching and learning and its impact and relevance to national and international education systems and scholarly outputs produced in the field of pedagogy and language development. This exploration trains students to become experts in the field and prepares them to piece of work alongside school administrators in improving the electric current education organisation in the country.

The students' learning and progress will culminate with a research output in Thesis 1 and 2 which are scaffolded by lecture serial, round table discussions, and masterclasses in the elapsing of the masterate program.

Teaching and learning methods

The graduate studies program of the Found puts premium on in-depth and adequate knowledge and understanding of academic and theoretical frameworks which are translated into research-based academic tasks. This specialized nature of the program prepares the students to become thinking teacher professionals as they collaborate and co-construct knowledge by investigating educational and societal trends and issues using different disciplinal lenses, frameworks and paradigms.  Specifically, the program will exist delivered using the following modes:

To address the distinct needs of the graduate studies, the courses are designed for the learners to interact and co-construct knowledge with their colleagues and professors through research-based activities.  This arroyo is rooted on the learning paradigm of the academy where critical, cogitating, and creative thinking is fostered.

Through this approach, the students explore and investigate educational and societal trends and problems using different disciplinal lenses to make sense of the dissimilar perspectives and make connections of their learnings on unlike courses. In addition, students develop the capacity to empathize concepts in multiple viewpoints and the ability to integrate these viewpoints into a broader conceptual framework of analysis.

The courses are delivered using a combination of face-to-face and online discussions using the learning direction system or Canvas. Contiguous discussions are done on a designated class schedule, while the readings, videos, and other learning materials are made available in the learning management system. Likewise, extended assessments and discussions are given through Sheet.

The courses are taught using the combination of the two modes where students volition be given opportunities for mentorship through various supplementary activities in the department. The students will also work with their fellow graduate studies students and faculty members through consultations and discourses.

Assessment and inquiry

The completion of courses under the program is dependent on the accomplishment of assessment tasks negotiated by the professor and the students for the semester. The program makes apply of research-based outputs and community and field exposures equally forms of assessments. These class outputs prepare students for the comprehensive exam and thesis writing towards the end of the program.

The comprehensive examination measures the students' ability to synthesize their learning throughout the plan through a publishable research or an empirical essay.
