Can I turn off drawing1.dwg?

I've had requests to stop drawing1.dwg from automatically opening when starting ACAD. Is this possible?

Double click on an existing DWG file through Windows Explorer.

Thanks, Lance. That's what I was looking for.

Not to disagree with Lance's answer, but it seems to me like Matt's
suggestion would 'get you there' faster...

YMMV

True, but it was a request from a user, so they are the ones who ultimately decide how they open the files.

I would have never guessed that was THE answer
lol

You are right.

With 2015, command line, startup 2.

Restart AutoCAD and it will open with no drawing file, from there you can go to file open and pick.

Elliminates the annoyance having to tell autocad that you do not want to save :drawing1" everytime you need to shut down AutoCAD.

  • Drawing1
  • startup command

Drawing1.dwg will go away as soon as you open an existing or new drawing, provided DBMOD in "Drawing1.dwg" = 0

So if "drawing1.dwg" hangs around after you open another drawing, you know something in your startup code is altering the drawing and causing DBMOD<>0

This is mentally retarded on Autocads part

having to close out every time you run autocad

dont they hire competant programmers at autocad....

older versions of autocad did not have this waste of time

Did you not read the thread? You have control over this and just because it is of no use to you, doesn't mean other people don't find it beneficial.

Looks like the time you've wasted is out of your own ignorance.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Read the post you are replying in friend, the answer is there: if you did not understand any part of it, point to what you read, be specific about what got you stuck and what you did not understand.

TIA

Dean,

I have seen you on just about all of these post regarding the drawing 1. So you might be able to help me understand why I am not having any success with it. Here is how it started I am running 2021 and installed all the recent updates this morning. After that is when I started having this issue. It started with not being able to start with my custom profile. CAD would open but when I would start a new drawing or open an existing it would crash with a Fatal Error. It would happen every time it started to load the ribbon (I just use the default). I have rebuilt my profile, made new ones, change the name to the aws file, deleted the aws file. I found that in the properties of the desktop icon if I remove /ld after (or replace it with /nohardware) "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2021\acad.exe" it will start the custom profile. But it ignores the Start mode vaules. I have changed my Startup, Startmode, DBMOD values too every combination and I still can not get it to work. Do you have any ideas?

Thank you for you time,

Joe
